Website Hosting
The term hosting refers to the use of physical space on a web server that enables you to display your website on the World Wide Web.

Imagine your website is a painting of your house. You want to display this painting to everyone, so you place it in a big shop window on a very busy high street. You don't own the shop, so you pay the owner a yearly fee to rent the window space. That's web hosting.

You may already have a web hosting package. If you do, we should be able to install your B&B Website on your current hosting, provided it has MySQL database facilities. We can advise you on this.

If you do not yet have web hosting, we can arrange this for you. Simply choose the Hosting add-on from the B&B Website shop. Hosting fees are renewable each year.

Domain Registration
A domain is like an address. Rather like the street address of the shop window we described above. When that address is entered into a web browser ( eg. Internet Explorer ) the user is taken to the website that is at that location. You need a suitable domain in order to get your website live and online.

Example domain would be; www.oaktreebb.co.uk or www.oaktree-house.com.

We can register a domain for you, and even help you chose the best one available. Sometimes your first choice will already be registered by someone else. We will help you find a good alternative.

Email
As part of your hosting service with us, we will set up email addresses for you if you require them. We will also give you all the assistance you need in order to set up your own computer to send and receive emails. An example email address would be; enquiries@oaktreebb.co.uk. You can have up to 10 email address under each domain name.
